Week 1 Group Work

Q Week 1 Group Work - Forming Your Teams Let's get started! Please DO NOT PUT THIS OFF! You need to participate in this discussion early and often. First, I would like you all to talk about your experiences as a project manager, or with any role you may have played on a project (any project). Also indicate whether you would be willing to serve as Team Leader for the group work for this class. Then comes the IMPORTANT part! You are to use THIS DISCUSSION to form your teams. Everyone MUST be on a project team, and the team needs to select a Team Leader (or "Project Manager"). Yes, I could just tell all of you what team you're on, but this is an intentional exercise in COMMUNICATION (one of the most critical skills of a project manager). TALK to each other. Form teams of 4 or 5. Then choose someone to be the Team Leader - they will have a little extra work, and will get a little extra credit. Your Group Work is a significant part of your grade, and starts in Week 2, so it is necessary for everyone to BE ON A PROJECT TEAM by the end of Week 1. Teams must be formed NO LATER than 11:59pm Friday, January 13. After you're on a team, continue to check back, so that anyone who is late participating doesn't get left out. If you see someone pleading to get on a team, and you have less than 5 on yours, invite them to join you. If all else fails, I will place people on a team, but I really don't want to have to - I want YOU to do it! When your team is complete, you need to select a team leader. The team leader then needs to send me an email telling me who is on your team. As always, email your instructor with any questions.

Hello, I am a Laboratory Technician with a company called Chemical Waste Management. I'm trying to acquire a degree in a field that allows me to grow managerial skills. I hope to one day gain a promotion within the company to teach others what this class may offer me. I do not have a lot of experience in this area but, I'm willing to be a sponge and learn.
